In Memoriam : John Tamburo 1/4/29 - 5/8/12

John Tamburo, 83 of Toms River, NJ, formerly of Clifton, died on May 8, 2012 at Van Dyke Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Toms River. He retired as an engineer from Walter Kidde Co., Rutherford and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
John was blessed with many gifts: music, art, mechanics, electronics and sports and a wonderful sense of humor. An avid bowler, he had a collection of trophies for his 300 games. A self-taught musician with a velvet voice and a passion for singing, he performed in many venues as “Johnny Drum.”
Johnny was predeceased by his wife Arlene (nee Bruno) in 2010 and by his two brothers, Anthony and Nattie Tamburo. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Mari and Lisa Tamburo, his beloved aunts, Margaret Ciccarelli, Charlotte Pelligra, Mildred Quagliano, Sally Brossard and Linda Sanno, and many loving cousins.

EVERGREEN SIDEWALK UPDATE
EVERGREEN SIDEWALK UPDATE : Evergreen property owners received a Pre Construction meeting letter - meeting set for JUNE 7th at Mill Valley City Hall, 26 Corte Madera, Mill Valley.
The letter mentioned that contract has been awarded to Ghilotti Brothers, but NO mention that Construction is scheduled to start on June 11th and go through to August 14th - we had to ASK what was going on!
Take a walk on Evergreen and see the new markings near Melrose - get an idea of what is to come.
UNITED WE STAND - DIVIDED THEY POUR!
SPEAK UP NOW or NEVER to support the Evergreen property owners who have requested that the COUNTY cease this project and let the funds revert back to the state Safe Routes to Schools fund.
---OR----
Endure an entire summer of construction noise and dust and then be an impervious concrete slab for all eternity - on what is now a green, semi-rural 100% safe street.
This project is being funded by $900,000 of Safe Routes to Schools funding - awarded to a grant proposal that contained INACCURATE AND MISLEADING INFORMATION -
This sidewalk is NOT NEEDED and was designed WITHOUT adequate community input, then HIDDEN from the people who would be most impacted for more than FOUR YEARS.
MARIN COUNTY HAS a BUDGET SURPLUS - but is TOO CHEAP to GIVE THE DPW FUNDING TO FIX SOME POTHOLES - forcing our hardworking DPW staff to seek alternative funding sources - such as the FEDERAL and STATE GOVERNMENT - funding which has SO MANY RESTRICTIONS - all they can do is build a STANDARD ISSUE, REGULATION CONCRETE COOKIE CUTTER SLAB - which will RUIN THE CHARACTER of our BELOVED HISTORIC HOMESTEAD VALLEY!!!
This Evergreen Avenue project was denied several times - NOT ONCE did anyone from HVCA or MHS contact Evergreen residents and property owners to ask us IF WE WANTED A SIDEWALK - WE ALREADY HAVE A DEDICATED PATH ON MOST OF THE STREET!
MARIN COUNTY REFUSES TO ENFORCE THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE MHS CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT - INSTEAD, CHOOSING TO CONSPIRE WITH THE 1% AGAINST THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE HERE.

ASK Mr. Kinsey : Tuesday, May 29th, 6:30 - 8:30
Current District 4 Supervisor Steve Kinsey is coming to Homestead Valley to meet and greet his constituents.
Tuesday, MAY 29th : 6:30 - 8:30 pm
Homestead Valley Community Center, 315 Montford, Homestead Valley!
If you can't make it, please post a question below and we'll forward to BOTH candidates for an online debate.
Diane Furst & Steve Kinsey subscribe to the Homestead Valley Post.
Regardless of who wins the election, HEAR US will remain active to keep you in touch with the County.
There are no enemies here - just some people with an agenda who don't know when to leave well enough alone, a process that needs improvement, more effective communication between neighbors, and INDEPENDENT representation from Homestead to the County. Easy fix!
COMMUNICATION CREATES COMMUNITY -
NOT CONCRETE!
ALL CHILDREN ARE OUR CHILDREN -
and they DESERVE GREEN STREETS!
